Organizational Overview

ABC microfinance is an institution that was established in the year 1988. It is situated in New Jersey. It is an institution that offers loans to small scale businesses who wish to invest in small enterprises. It is a privately owned business.

ABC Micro-finance aims to become the leading microfinance institution in the region and to offer professional services both locally and internationally.

Scope of Services

The organization is managed by a board of directors which is constituted of stakeholders. The board of directors is headed by the executive chairman. The following represents the current system’s organization structure.

The scope of the proposed system will entail the following;

                                                              i.            The proposed system will have a centralized database that will store all the information about the clients and will be accessed by all other departments that will need the information. This will solve the problem of redundancy and duplication of files. Changes done in any department will be reflected in the database.

                                                            ii.            Data security will be enhanced through data validation and data back up in a central place.

                                                          iii.            All the clients will have each an account opened for them in the database with all their details .Only an identification and the name will be needed to be fed in the computer, this will solve the problem of time wasting and long queues. The system will operate on a network that will be accessed easily by other departments.

                                                          iv.            To eliminate errors, only right information will be entered in the database by the authorized persons who are trained.

                                                            v.            The system will contain the balance and the amount of interest payable on the loan. This is printed in the REPORTS that will be generated with the system

   PROJECT FEASIBILITY.

1)      Technical feasibility.

  ABC microfinance owns several computers.

  Needed are the following;

Printers, NIC cables, RAM 64mb 2.8GH{to be used as server}
Operating system [Windows 2000, XP]
Programming languages VB, Word processor, Database Management System

2)      Operational feasibility

 Computer literate personnel should be employed to help the current employees.

3)      Economic feasibility

   The institution is able and should be willing to purchase the proposed items needed. The following is approximate budget:

For a client to be given loan in the institution, he or she has to fill a form manually giving his details. The loan he is given is paid in installments. The records are updated and interest is calculated.
