Ethical Program at Wal-Mart

As discussed above that the Wal-Mart is the target of many controversies because of its policies on employment and its influence on the economy as a whole. However, in order to properly address this issue, we need to analyze the ethical program based on following parameters: Code of Ethics Code of ethics of the company outlines many important policy parameters for the organization.

One of the most important elements is that of the non discrimination as well as open door policy however its practices are most of the time perceived against its code of ethics. There are 10 main areas of the code of ethics of the company comprising of following areas: (Wal-Mart, 2005) 1) Follow the law all the time 2) Be Honest and Fair 3) Never Manipulate, misrepresent, abuse or conceal information 4) Avoid conflicts of interest between work and personal affairs

The code of ethics of the company is quite wider in its scope as its statement of ethics further discuss the issues like the responsibilities towards the shareholders of the company in terms of its duties to shareholders, financial integrity, conflict of interest, gifts, trade secrets as well as insider trading policies. The statement of the ethics of the company than goes on to discuss the responsibilities of the company towards its fellow associates in terms of dignity and respect, Non discrimination, wages and hours of working, Immigration, privacy, use of drugs as well as fraternization.
