If all these issues are not resolved efficiently, it can create a lot of problems for the organization. Comair if develops a new system, also needs to deal with a number of issues related with public, organization and technology.
Issues related with the people in the process of new system development include the risk of failure of extra extensive investments of IT executives. This high investment can increase the risk of the Comair to comply efficiently with all the new components of the system and if it fails to comply with the desired result, can increase a risk for the company; so it is very necessary for the firm to undertake an analysis of its costs and benefits, so that an appropriate investment by the company management can be done (Legacy Systems 2000).
These high investments of the company Executives in the development of new system can also increased the IT risk of the company, as with this, it will highly depend upon the IT technologies for their key procedures, competitive skillfulness and association with travelers and passenger’s links. May be most of the managers of the company are not aware with the application of the new system and it can create a feeling of dissatisfaction and complex among them in comparison to other managers (Various Advantages of Information Management Systems 2009).
Environment of pervasive IT risk All are the significant issues that Comair will face at the time of development of new system that can be handled by the company with the help of planned change because it will involve all the aspects of an organization, as well as, its employees. They will get an acquaintance regarding the development of new system, which is very necessary for the Comair after breakdown of its crew scheduling system in December, 2004. Conclusion
With the help of above described company’s information technology strategy and various other aspects, we can conclude that the disaster that took place at Comair in December 2004 was due to the operational and availability risk, as the company was lacking in an advanced legacy system. Comair IT administrators should have undertaken risk management analysis that could render Delta with the danger of not replacing its legacy system sooner. Company administrators should have brought the attention of Delta officials regarding the replacement of company’s old legacy system.
Similarly, the Executives of the Delta should also have analyzed the operations and analysis done by the Comair’s executives on their own regarding the assessment of risks. To overcome with the losses, company should surely develop a new legacy system by following a particular process as discussed above; so it can overcome all the possible issues that can be confronted with this new system development. Company Executives should try to maximize the benefits of present advanced information technologies in an effective and efficient manner to regain its lost position.
