The leadership survey test
The leadership survey test that I took was an eye opener. It has made me to discover new things about myself that I previously had not realised. with that I now know about my abilities and weaknesses, I would be able to concentrate on my strong points and in areas which I need to do more, I would ensure that I work harder to improve on them. In order to improve my leadership skills, I need to work giving my co-workers and subordinates a sense of responsibility in allowing them to take active part in the process of decision making.
I need to delegate more tasks to them so that they feel a sense of belonging. Rewarding hard work is pertinent to increasing the productivity of workers. I would make sure that I improve on my reward system so that any one who deserves commendation gets it. This would go a long way in motivating other workers to do even better so that the company continues to grow. I need to improve on my ability to tolerate others.
I don’t need to see everyone as the same but as different personalities that have their different strengths and weaknesses also. Openness and good disposition would go a long way in creating an enabling environment for the workers to bring out the productivity in them. Justice and fairness is paramount in creating a sane environment. I would ensure that I am just in all my dealings and if I am to settle any dispute, I would be fair and objective.
In this way, others would learn to do the same since leadership is by example. Anything the leader does would have a ripple effect on what the followers do. Proper planning and good foresight is indispensable in implementing good policies. I would use this as my cardinal means of getting things done on time.
Accountability is also paramount in fostering trust among employees. I would ensure that everyone of my subordinates are accountable to me and they are of good behaviour and strict discipline. This would ensure that they complete whatever tasks are assigned to them in record time. Also, I would make sure that I erase any trace of bias from everything I do. I would be objective.
This survey has made been an eye opener in discerning the kind of leader I am. It has fine-tuned me to build on my strengths and work on my weaknesses.
