Winget tells us in this book, that we must first fix ourselves when we run into a problem at work. We must ask ourselves what is the problem, in order to go about mending the situation so to make ourselves better; we must be prepared to take steps in the right direction, so we can become more successful. The author never sugarcoats his answers to ordinary career problems, he simply tells us that the situation lies in our own hands and he gives us words of encouragement that we can utilize while we attempt to make the problem dissolve.
He tells us that success is just around the corner and that we should never give up, but dive into the situation willingly and bravely, while we are armoroued with enthusiasm, encouragement and ambition. Winget tells us to never rely on our co-workers or management team for our own success, while at work. He tells us to stop this type of behavior and thinking process and rely solely on you.
He says that if you want to climb to the top of the ladder at work, to become a better employee, you must stop complaining, and do everything, yourself when you run into a situation that needs to be dealt with. Winget ultimately tells us that we should never offer any excuses because it is up to the individual to read and learn about our own companies, and that can’t be accomplished by management.

This information we must read ourselves, so we can be equipped with the information we need in becoming important to our companies. The more educated we are in our own workplace, the more profitable we will become to our employers. The author writes as if he wants to make you upset about what he is teaching. His information is so unreserved, that you feel that his teaching is directed toward you, and you get the feeling that if you fail, then truly that failure lies on your own shoulders.
He is so straight forward that you will either work harder, learn more and become more ambitious at work or you will become angry and continue to blame everyone else for your failure. We learn that we must not expect raises and promotions if we don’t earn them. If we don’t glide through our jobs with a different attitude than we held previously, then our incomes will most likely remain the same and of course, that would be our own fault for not heeding the information that were offered, by Winget.
Winget tells us to not get too comfortable in our current positons at work and to take on an entirely different attitude and if we do, our employers will notice this change and will reward our new outlook and enthusiasm that we now demonstrate in the office. Sitting back and waiting for change will not help us. If we fail to wake up and take the horse by the reins and guide it, on our own, we will never push ahead. Our future, Winget teaches, is ultimately up to us. Our original routines should be thrown in the past and we should look for new methods that will cause us to shine.
Winget teaches us in this book, to get rid of any shyness and demonstrate our own talent and education that we have gained, concerning the company and our employers will be greatly impressed. Our industries are ran by people just like us, Winget offers and we should be ready and armed with our new attitudes of becoming winners who offer no excuses!
