An E-Commerce company would require infrastructure to be well maintained for the smooth function of the operations at all times. The four infrastructures that are required for the e-commerce company are as follows: 1. Internet technologies (E-Commerce website, web server, application server): The e-commerce website is the prime interface and face to the world of customers for their access to products and services.

Inmon (2000) says that dynamism with respect to changing market conditions, growth of the data use, handing scalability, interfacing to existing systems, multiple views and handling historical data and many more are the factors to look over for success in e-commerce. The web server and application server are required for storing the website and processing of the business logic.

Capitalizing on these factors would strengthen the strategy of the e-commerce business. 2. Market survey and competitor analysis team: They form a core part of the e-commerce team and offers expert solutions on the business growth and continuity planning. 3. Payment gateway: The transactions in the e-commerce environment are taken care by the credit agencies and one requires having a strong infrastructure to make it happen at its best. 4.

Data management system: The information about products and customer requires being stored in a data management system so that it can be mined to know customer preferences, feedbacks for the improvement of the business and cater specifically to the larger masses (Meder, 2003). The various challenges that an e-commerce manager faces are the following: 1. The crucial understanding of the changing trends and the consumer behavior. Consumer behavior must be tapped for knowing the changing interests and capitalizing on such situations to get the maximum output.

Such decision making is the biggest challenge to any e-commerce manager. 2. To understand the secure methods of transaction and discovery of optimized methods to provide better usability to the e-commerce website.
