Additionally, the company has a plan dubbed the Flexible Spending Account, where the members of the organization and their dependents can be bale to settle certain expenses such as medical expenses using pre-tax dollars, thus enabling them to enjoy substantial tax saving (Walgreen Co, 2010a). The employees also enjoy other benefits including the Walgreen Profit-Sharing Plan and the Walgreens Employee Stock Purcahse Plan (ESPP). Under the ESPP, the company facilitates the employees to acquire Walgreens shares.

The plan allows them to acquire the firm’s common shares at a 10% discount and also without paying any broker fees. Thanks to the employee purchase program, Walgreen employees are in a position to buy goods from any store at a special price. The part time employees at Walgreens also get to enjoy personal leave as well as vacations. Through the career connections program, the employees have the opportunity to advance to corporate level positions within the firm (Walgreen Co, 2010a). Full time employees of the firm get to enjoy many more benefits.

In addition to the above, these enjoy a wide raft of benefits including life insurance, fully paid for them by Walgreens. Full time employees of the company also enjoy an accident insurance cover, disability leave that is fully paid for by the company, funeral leave, and fully paid holidays, sick time off. Yet another benefit which the full time employees of the organization get to enjoy is the prescription coverage.

Under this plan, Walgreen employees and their dependants enroll under the firm’s medical plan, whose cost is subsidized by the firm so that the employees get to pay only a minimal amount whenever they need to buy prescription drugs. There is also the medical and dental coverage plan, which covers both the employees and their immediate family. Two such plans exist, including the Walgreens Health Plan PPO and the Walgreens Consumer Driven Health Plan (Walgreen Co, 2010a).
