Our issue of concern for this module revolves around the subject of how an organizations workspace both shapes and is shaped by the information technology choices that the organization makes, and considering good models for effectively integrating information technology into the office


The success of not just our work but the environment where such works are being carried out becomes a great impact of our lives; this essay is based on showing us how the form of information system we use in our workplace affects it. Work itself is spectacularly developing and the results of that development can be seen in new sometimes successful and sometimes not as lucky office designs. Technology is creating a vast evolution in office design, affecting where, how, when, and what work is done. Companies’ business models and technology desires must be known for architects and designers to design appropriate solutions.

To bring about the successful spatial embodiment of a business in the physical world, architects and designers must cautiously gather from a company what their current and future business models are and will be. Therefore in a brief explanation we view information system in general as a set of interrelated components that collect, manipulate, and disseminate data and information, and provide feedback to meet an objective, furthermore on this research work, is the difference on the terms information, data and knowledge, Information: is the collection of facts organized in such a way that they have value beyond the facts themselves, Data: raw facts, Knowledge: is the awareness and understanding of a set of information and ways that information can be made useful to support a specific task or reach a decision. These are what shall be used in the course of this essay paper.

The effectiveness of integrating information technology into an office is considered by a number of factors, it is what may eventually hinder or as well, help an organization. Office design is a hugely problematical connection of conflicting and balancing parameters, once the wrong principles regarding information system in business and organization are being applied, organizations easily collapses, therefore many organizations today invest on people, before considering other factors that build a company.

Once the right management is established it is assured that the management runs the company with the best information system. However there are some points which will give us a more vivid insight to our topic of discussion regarding a business organization and its information technology, this points are  the differences of the old office designs from the new one, a look to why people use to fail and ways of improving it.

Individual and collective performance results: Gone are those days when ranks are seriously considered not just by compensation but also decision making, therefore an equality of staffs in office create room for good work output.

Flexibility and effectiveness: A business that is rigid in its guiding rules and regulation has been observed as the non progressive type, an office where there is room for changes will quickly turn-up as regards new principles in office designs.

Retention leads to attraction: New technologies are more effectively used when they are continually used by those who where first taught, therefore removing and re employing new staffs destroys a business possibility of continuous progress in an applied information principle.


In conclusion, in a business organization, to succeed you have to as a manager always think the unthinkable, you have not to be just credible and clear but also courageous, as a manager most people including myself will always be proud to associate him/her self under you especially in businesses you run only if you can give your total commitment in transforming your business organization. The possibilities of this can only be made if your system of information use is not the archaic but modern types, as these gives more value to it, they should be efficient, effective and to system performance standard.

This information’s are termed valuable if they possess the following characteristics: Assessable: They should be assessed by authorized users so that they can meet their aims, Accurate:  Accurate information’s are error free, Complete: Complete information’s contains all the important facts, Economical: It should be balanced with the cost of producing it, Flexible: flexible information can be used for variety of purpose,  Relevant: relevant information, pertaining the nature of his own organization, Reliable: So that it can be depended on, Secured: It should be a secret from unauthorized users, Simple: It shouldn’t be complex so as it can be used accurately, Timely: it should be passed at the tie it is mostly needed, verifiable: many sources should be checked and be sure that it is correct

If all these principles discussed above are put into a business organization and effectively used as discussed the business will not only excel as regards profit, but name and firm which will further result to more hard work and the more people will want to work in such organizations not excluding myself.
