Business Legal Issues Essay

As a Christian, I follow the holy Bible, and have association with like-minded Christians. Since it is not practically possible to live in seclusion from unbelievers, I work, eat, communicate, and even try to help the unbelievers without participating in their sinful activities. As a human, I make mistakes, and learn from them for elevating my spiritual existence.

When Wanda comes to me, and discusses her enigmatic problem with me, I shall try to comfort her through my kind words. Since she is a new Christian, and is trying to practice the teachings of the holy Bible in her real life, I shall strongly support her honest endeavors. By starting a new business with her life-long friend, who is an unbeliever, Wanda is trying to help her friend. The verse that forbids Wanda from forming a partnership with her unbeliever friend is reiterated in “Biblos,” and is quoted below.

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?

Thus, according to the above verse, Wanda should not have any sort

of association with her unbeliever friend. By doing so, Bible warns that Wanda will be flouting the moral teachings. A good human must keep the company of only good humans. If a Christian gets involved in an immoral conduct with an unbeliever, then the Christian needs to be condemned for deviating from the holy teachings in the Bible. However, there is an exception to the above verse, which shall encourage Wanda to form an alliance with her friend. I would like to draw the attention of my fellow Christian friend, Wanda, about the case of Jesus who had meals with sinners, but he did not participate in their sinful activities.

The Expository Files in “The Interactive Bible” emphasize that a Christian may do business with an unbeliever provided that the former does not participate in immoral and sinful activities of the latter. Thus, Wanda will be doing a great help to her unbeliever friend by doing business without indulging in immoral activities.

Considering the fact that Wanda is a new Christian, I must appreciate her sincerity, kindness and boldness. On one side, she is determined to follow the teachings of holy Bible in her real life, and on the other hand, she is bold to speak out her problem, and take the advice of an experienced Christian about having a business alliance, which would be both morally and legally acceptable. She is right in her decision for not entering into a partnership with her unbeliever friend since the liability of any sinful activity of her unbeliever friend shall also be shared by Wanda.

According to “Docstoc,” in case of a Corporation, the liability falls on the corporation as a unit, but not on the individual persons comprising the corporation. Thus, if Wanda’s unbeliever friend commits any wrong action, which may put the corporation in danger, then Wanda shall not be liable for it, and moreover, her assets would be safe under those circumstances. Besides, the Bible also advises Wanda to help an unbeliever without participating in sinful activities.

Hence, I would encourage Wanda to help her life-long friend, and start a business corporation. It could be possible that due to good companionship with Wanda, her unbeliever friend may get good direction, and eventually, follow the holy teachings in the Bible. It is the moral duty of a Christian to help another friend to choose the path of right conduct. By forming a corporation with her unbeliever friend, Wanda is being a true Christian, and performing a noble duty, which many people abstain from in their real lives. I wish Wanda success in her sincere endeavors because she is morally as well as legally correct in her decision to form a corporation.
