Career Development

Through everyday experiences, volunteerism, classroom experiences, hobbies, and paid and unpaid work experiences, the skills of a person are being developed. Skills inventory is the evaluation of capacities, career goals, and qualifications of an employee. With this technique, I will be able to identify if I am functioning well in my organization and if I am providing the best service possible. Moreover, I will be able to determine which aspects I should focus more in developing my skills and competencies for my career goals and objectives.

I could distinguish my strengths and weaknesses in the fields that I should improve to be able to qualify for a higher position. Apparently, there are many factors that may affect the attitude of the person towards a job. The compensation is one of the attributes that could make a person satisfied in his or her work. Everyone in an organization aims for an appropriate salary for a quality service. If I can provide for my basic needs, at the same time being able to save for my future, it is a good indication that I am becoming financially stable.

workplace is not based on clean surroundings alone; oftentimes, employees find the job more interesting if the workers have a good relationship with the management. An organization with open communication between the superiors and the employees would also serve as my guideline for success. Aside from the financial aspect and work environment, a job that offers an opportunity to grow can be one of the factors that would make the person love his or her work more.

This is what a person needs in an organization aside from good pay and work environment. Everyday, a person learns from his or her job through the tasks that are given to him or her or through the person’s fellow employees. For whole time that the person stays at work, it is important that what he or she does has something to do with his or her interests. Job satisfaction is more important than the salary that a person gets; this is the reason that most people are very careful in choosing the work that would help them to fulfill their career goals and objectives.

I have set my goals based on my interests and capabilities which serve as my foundation in developing my career plan. As the person grows up, he or she feels the need for self-fulfillment. The reputation and prestige are just examples of the things that an individual wants to achieve in his or her life. The need for self-fulfillment is one of the reasons why I would like to gain a higher position; however, I have to learn and increase my knowledge first before I will be capable of handling such position. Desiring for a higher status requires strong will and determination; therefore I need to plan my actions in order to fulfill my goals.

I should always remember my career goals and objectives in doing all the tasks that are given to me by my superiors. I would carefully choose the organization that I would like to be part of because the people that I am going to work with on that organization would be the ones to help me to become successful in the future. An organization with a well defined mission would undeniably promise a good future to its employees and that is what I am going to search in the millions of business firms in the world.

I am going to accept a position that would increase my career growth and give an opportunity for advancement. Being in a prominent organization does not guarantee a bright future because individual success often depends to the person involved. Effective career management includes steps that would assure the person’s career goals. I would continue my education beyond the minimum requirements to make sure that I would stay ahead of the emerging competition in my field.

There may be many factors that may affect my plans to achieve my career goals; however, I would look at all the possibilities and prepare ahead of time to avoid failures and overcome obstacles. The conflicts within the organization may become a barrier to success, but the determination of the employees would definitely aid the company from losing the battle in the business world. Moreover, the trainings and seminars that the organizations or even other companies give to their employees will help them to become more determined in achieving their desired status.

Five years can be very long for those who are working hard and aiming for more than what they have already achieved; however, I am going to use this period of time in assessing and continuously improving myself to be able to become qualified for the position that I would like to achieve.
