1-Program Effectiveness and Direction: The Captain’s current perception of program effectiveness and expectations of the career development team.

2-CFWP Education Fair: Support of an education fair in April 2009 is respectfully requested. The education fair will include 100% completions and returns of education surveys for CFWP and ASD enlisted Sailors. Officers will also be invited and encouraged to participate in this event.

The education fair will be a coordinated effort involving education surveys, ensuring SMART objectives are updated.

Team Communication: Support to re-engage active communication and involvement of Career Development

Team (CDT) members is respectfully requested. Areas of specific interest include:

-Active participation in meetings and training.

-Active communication and updates of the monthly CCC brief submitted by CDT Members.

-Departmental Head, Division Officer and Leading Chief Petty Officer’s involvement in regards to manning and detailing.

-Utilization of the POW, quarters, emails and supervisory positions to discuss career related information with our Sailors.

4-CFWP CDP Quarterly Reviews: CFWP quarterly reviews of department/division career development programs will be implemented in April. This is intended to engage and hold all CDT members of CFWP and our ASDs accountable for the items listed in topic (3) and enclosure (2).

5-Departmental/Divisional Career Development

Boards: With the exception of reporting and special career development boards (CDBs); all CDBs are respectfully requested to be conducted on the departmental or divisional level.

This method would be in compliance with existing instructions, but its success would reply on accountability for completions. Enclosure (2), the monthly CCC brief and active communication with the SEA should serve as measures to ensure that success.

6-Self Assessment: A self assessment to include the collateral duty holders of career development support programs is requested at the convenience of the SEA. The results would then be recommended to be shared during the following CDT meeting.
