Case analysis for students

Fanter writes in her article “Preparing for Post-College Life: Capstone and Keystone Courses” that a capstone course generally requires students to work on a single, large project such as a case study or analysis. Davis and Wilcock defines case analysis in their article “Teaching Materials Using Case Studies” as a project-based learning and a student-centered activity that involves topics where practical, real life examples are used to demonstrate and contextualize theoretical concepts. According to Davis and Wilcock, case analyses expose students to the issues that they could face in the real world and provide students the opportunity to develop vital skills like communication, and problem-solving. It also increases the motivation and interest of students. It also offers students the chance to work in a group. In the journal article “Facilitation and Assessment of Group Work using Web-based Tools,” Hardfort states that group work allows students to interact with one another and produce new insights.
