What is time-management?
-taking control and assuming responsibility for the time you are given on earth
-a lesson you will use throughout your studies & beyond

-paying attention to how you are spending your time and making a plan to use it more effectively

-implies that you have the ability to teach yourself how to get more done when things are and are not going well

time taken away from obligations

1. set specific academic and personal goals
2. create schedules -term calendar (records major events) -weekly schedule of classes, labs, etc.
3. pick specific times to work on each course
4. make a to-do list for each day the night before or during breakfast

2. The Doodler
3. The Squanderer
4. The Beggar
5. The Planner

1. think before you answer
2. understand what is being asked of you
3. review your schedule
4. learn the difference between assertiveness (politely demading) and rudeness
5. say yes or no at the appropriate times
6. offer suggestions to the person as to who could aid them
7. put a time limit on your “yes”
What is procrastination?
-characterized by the needless avoiding or putting off of tasks
-from Latin procrastinare meaning “to postpone until tomorrow”

What are the three procrastinator types?
1. Chronic Procrastinator
2. Moderate Procrastinator
3. Occasional Procrastinator
Explain the chronic procrastinator.
-procrastinates all of the time on almost everything
-takes a great deal of planning and energy to overcome
Explain the moderate procrastinator.
-procrastinates much of the time
-usually gets things done but does not create his best work, creating stress in his life
-takes a fair amount of planning to overcome

-sometimes turns in work that is not his best
-feels guilty when procrastinating–> will rush to get the project completed
