In this modern era people used to spend most of their time in different type of organisation: offices, multi-national companies, school, hobbies and etc. the organisations need effective communication to make their operations and functions work properly. This report is written to justify the process of communication in the multi-national organisations, to identify their problems and to provide their possible solutions. It is based on a data collected from real life medium sized Multi-national Corporation which faced many challenges and problem during internal and external communications.
Employee’s of this modern era are well educated and are more focussed towards their careers than their parents were and want to have more knowledge and information about the company’s policy for the betterment of employees (Argenti, 2007, 137). The working environment in the organisations is changing these days dynamically. The highly competitive and increasingly complexity in the today’s working environment puts an extra pressure of performing well and lights up the need for concentration in the area of internal and external communication.

One of the main aims of this report is to find out the functional guideline for communication process in companies whether that is internal or external communication and how it can be implemented in the offices. Problems associated with communication in multi-national organisations: The main reason to carry out this research is to find out the present situation communication internally in organisation and how this internal communication can be improved. The main problem associated with this research process is to find out that existing communication process is working effectively or not.
This will suggest the points on communication process required in future to improve its operations (Richmond and McCroskey, 2001, 17). Researchers were interested in the study because they wanted to know the internal communication process followed by most of the companies and wanted to know which is the most efficient and beneficial. Direction of communication in an organisation: Communication is the most important part of life and it determines the way in which we are going in everyday life.
it is well said by American philosopher Lee Thayer that there are two things which are essential part of life one is functions of energy and second is communication. Communication has very much importance in life as we need to have good health or good nutrition’s (Blundel, 2004, 2). So this is the main reason to know about communication process. When information is interchanged between sender and receiver it is referred to communication process (Bratton and Gold, 1994, 259).
Communication is considered as an event or a well-organised process. In a more particular manner it can be taken as exchange of messages between two people (Blundel, 2004, 3). Communication process: The main purpose of effective communication in an organisation is to energize its employee’s performance and enable them to carry out all the operation carefully (Lee, 2004). Organisations should be capable of understanding information quickly, should be able to send and receive information strategically necessary information.
When deciding about company’s policy and strategies that will go to be adopted, there is a need to develop a continuous and useful communication process. Communication moves in three different directions: horizontally, upward and downward. In downward communication we can use managers to convey their messages or communicate their fellow workers and sub-ordinates. Upward communication moves from lower level towards higher level. In horizontal communication information is shared at same level of employees in effective manner (Bratton and Gold, 1994, 261).
Downward and upward communication must be balanced because it is essential for both to maintain standard of communication (Hartley and Bruckmann, 2002, 2). Communication should be balanced and equivalent process between receiver and sender in order to effective information from both sides. The ability of communicating well is essential for small organisations to perform well and for cooperation in society. We can see that even in small companies there is two-way communication (Blundel, 2004, 5).
