The Company has long established itself as a reliable and reputable provider of contract security services. We are well known in the U. S. and can bank on this reputation as we expand in to Kava. Where people have nothing but past reputation to bank on The Company will have a definite edge. We also have experience in dealing with unorthodox security concerns. In relation to this, The Company also has a complete communications infra-structure. We have a website which is accessible from around the world.

Many of our management and staff are still expatriates. Language and cultural barriers are a concern for us. Training of local employees and security staff is only now beginning. With very few trained local staff new assignments will have to be filled with personnel brought over from the U. S. Some local activist groups have branded us as another agent of globalization because of this. This does not help our reputation. Training of local staff should be a paramount priority. The instability in Kava and the unique security problems here are different from the types of problems we dealt with in the U. S. What worked there may not necessarily work here especially when it comes to techniques in dealing with people. Opportunities for The Company. The polyglot cultures and ethnicity of Kava makes it a melting pot society. A melting pot naturally overflows at times. Many of the local ethnic groups distrust each other and prefer to deal with their own kind. The mutual distrust creates an air of paranoia and a lack of sense of security.
Kava is disaster prone. Aside from security from human threats like thieves, hoodlums and murderers, the people also need protection from natural threats like fire, flood or earthquakes. We have a first-mover advantage moving into Kava. There is no existing Security agency in Kava besides our firm. As the first in the business The Company sets the standards for others who will dare to follow us. Our established presence will make it easier to expand. Threats for The Company Kava is potentially politically and economically unstable.
The lack of stability and security that makes contracting a security provider like The Company is potentially dangerous for the company as well. Also, Kava’s politically instability may also lead to fluctuations in the exchange rate which could ruin our profitability. Local activist political groups have branded our firm as a foreign company and an agent of globalization. No matter how unfair and unfounded the accusation is the company’s reputation suffers because of it. The risks as defined by the threats and weaknesses are many. However, the strengths coupled with opportunities are enticing and will be worthy of consideration.
Ultimately, the decision would hinge between the opportunity of being the first to deliver security services in certain areas of the country as opposed to the possible threat and weakness of being unused to the local environment. The company must choose to expand because the opportunities are unique and will not be repeated again. For instance, if another Security agency went to the major Kava cities we would lose the opportunity to be the first to be there. Unless the rival firm is utterly incompetent it will be much harder for us to get business in those regions.
