Customer Service Experience Good and quality service are one of the most essential factors in a good operation of a business venture. Businesses that offer services should see to it that they attend to the every need of the customer in order to satisfy them and eventually earn their loyalty. An exceptional customer service is a very advantageous edge of company in order for their clients to patronize them instead of their competitors. In doing so, they would be able to survive the cutthroat industry that is often associated with most business industries.
Nevertheless, there are still some companies who failed to live by the customers’ expectations. They fall short in the standard of good service that they must adhere to. I happened to experience this kind of incompetence, which I will narrate in the succeeding paragraphs. The incident happened during one weekend when I planned to shop for some clothes together with my friend. What I thought would be a leisurely and fun-filled day with my friend turn out to be a complete disaster.

They lack the needed sensitivity that should make them relate and treat their customers better. When my friend and I were shopping for clothes in the store we decided to get the maximum number of clothes that is allowed inside the fitting room so that we would not have a hard time to go back and forth in order to try the clothes we want. Before going inside the fitting room, there is an attendant waiting at the door that would give you a number card, which specifies how many clothes you would try on.
One look at the attendant would tell you that she was not in a good mood. There is an irritated and tired look in her face that makes you think that this woman does not like her job and that she is having a horrible time doing this chore for other people. Nonetheless, we just did not mind her mood and went on in trying the clothes we took from the rack. It is just so unfortunate that most of the clothes we tried on did not perfectly fit us. Being the case, we have to return to her more than half of the clothes we tried on.
While we were placing the clothes that we would not purchase, the irritation in her face became more evident. As if we are a huge burden that she have to endure. We would have let that incident pass but the succeeding events are something we could not bear. She started mumbling complaints about why people have to fit so many clothes when they would just simply return all of it after trying it on instead of buying it. We considered this as a direct comment towards us because we are the only ones she was assisting during that time.
I was already irritated by but I still manage to make some apologetic remarks because of the many clothes we have to return to her. However, it did not stop there because she took notice of my friend. My friend is Asian and she has well defined features of a Chinese-looking woman. She was not speaking during that time because she was already annoyed by the attendant’s behavior. The attendant asked me “so your friend do not know how to speak English? ” This came as an insult to my friend because her remark implies that Asian’s are not capable of speaking English.
She considered this as a racist insult, which made her even more irritated with the attendant. Since I am already aware of my friend’s temper. I decided to take her with me and we went to the farther side of the store away from the attendant. It is quite obvious that the attendant has a very rude behavior, which is why we decided to take action and make a complaint about her behavior. We went to the customer service booth of the department store wherein most people would return damaged clothes they had already purchased.
The woman, who was assisting the other customers with their corresponding issues regarding the product they bought, took notice of us. She was better than the attendant who was situated at the fitting room. The woman immediately assisted us and asked us of what we need. We ask her if we could have a talk with their store manager. However, she informed us that their store manager was not available at the moment because he has to attend to some important matters.
She told us that she was the immediate superior at the moment and we could entrust to her the issues we would like to bring forth to their manager. We narrated to her what happened at the fitting room and the ill behavior of one of their attendants. She seriously contemplated upon the issue and assures us that this would be deal with seriously. After talking with her, my friend and I decided to just go home since our day is already ruined. Nonetheless, before we leave we saw the immediate superior of store talking with the attendant in the fitting room.
They seem to be having a very serious talk and then the superior walked inside their office followed by the attendant. Ross department store is one of the places that I often go to when I need to buy new clothes and other stuff. I could actually say that I am one of their frequent customers. My relationship with this store is not substantially affected by the incident because even though I experience an incompetent and unacceptable service from one of their employees, it was compensated by the service given by another employee who assisted us and handle our problem properly.
