The task of the human resource department in an organization is to manage the workforce in an effective way and to overcome all the problems that arise between the employees and the organization. For this, the human resource department has to form various policies and have to adopt various processes in order to fulfill the needs of the employees as well as the needs of the organization.
However, it is not just essential to form new policies but it is also essential to implement them after which they should be maintained as well in order to know the effectiveness of the policies that are being designed for the organization. Terms and conditions of employment It is necessary for the employer to get the contract of terms and conditions signed by the employee so that the employee get to know his rights and the rules he had to obey while working in the organization. The terms and conditions contract consists of all the necessary details such as the name and task assigned to the employee, the allowances and other incentives and benefits that he will receive and company policies, etc. (Evans, 2003).
Transfer Practices It is vital for the organization to adopt flexible transfer practices due to the changing demands of the customers as in some seasons, the demand is very high due to which the organization needs to hire extra labor while in some seasons when the demand is low or below average, some of the labor is not needed. The human resource department has to be very effective when handling the labor as their clumsy behavior and attitudes may cause harm to the organization.
The management has the option to move the employees according to the phases of production where they are needed but they must also make considerations for the people who will be affected by this change. Although change is here to stay but mostly people resist change as they do not like change and so they do not want to go for it or to accept it. Promotion practices The human resource has various aims in order to ensure that they are working effectively and for this they aim to hire the best talent that can fill the vacant positions where employees can find opportunities to bring advancements in their career.
The promotion practice however should be clearly known to both the management as well as the employee and for this the human resource department must be notified beforehand about any position in the organization that is not filled. It is mostly better to opt for internal hiring as the employees already know the procedures of the organization. Other than this, these opportunities should be available for everyone in the organization especially in those organizations where there is a lot of workforce diversity. (Frappaolo, 2006).
