Consumer Legislation At ASDA we have to comply with many consumer legislations for each department and some of these legislations are: Data Protection Legislation This act states that the customer’s information should be kept secure. It is very important in protecting individuals’ personal data. Individuals or organisations have to comply with eight principles of good practice. At ASDA we provide the customers with a price and description of the item so they know what item they are looking for and at what price it is, this is because we believe that the customer should have the right to know what the product is and the price of the product before making any decisions. We also allow the customer to return the item when they reach to the till and they are not satisfied with the price.
General product safety regulations 2005: At ASDA we comply with the general product safety regulations 2005. We ensure that all of the products we sell are: packaged well and do not have any loose objects attached. We make sure all our products are suitable to be displayed for everyone at a suitable area. We also ensure that all our goods packaging has been made clear about where it should be kept for example plants, fruit, food etc. At ASDA we have to make sure on all our products there’s no false information and whether our product is harmful to a certain age group.
Disability Discrimination act 2005: At ASDA we offer all of our employees a good chance to prove how capable they are, we believe that no one should be discriminated because of their disability. At ASDA we have to employ disabled employees too, that means if a disabled person and a non-disabled person apply for a job and they both have the same skills and qualifications, ASDA employs the disabled person. At ASDA we have a trade union act and we believe that every worker employed should have the chance to join and be part of it. To make all our staff aware of this we include this information in the staff handbook (which all staff receive after being employed) to make our employees aware of the chance. At ASDA we abide to this employment relations act 2004 as we make all our employees aware of their specific trade union within five working days provided and they have given us a trade union to contact. Other employees at ASDA do not discriminate workers based on their trade union position but we give them opportunities of welcoming them with the membership of trade union.
