Fairy has acquired Aaroon Ltd. , so when breaking into Thailand, it will take many of its skilled workers with it so that the new Thai workforce can learn from them. As a result, the workforce will be a mix of expatriates and internationals. I, as a Human Resource Director, will suggest Fairy to take only 10% of its American employees. One of the major reasons why a Thai company was acquired in the first place was because labor in Thailand is cheap.
It will make little sense to take many of its existing employees to Thailand. The advantage gained from cheap labor will get buried. The costs will not go down and profitability will not increase, as a result. Also, taking a large number of its American workers will cause disorientation amongst the existing American workforce. They will feel their jobs are insecure in their country. As a result, productivity, and hence, profitability may go down.
