The exact need of the hospitality business is to develop strategic lines in order to provide the employees with the best possible opportunities to work on. Such strategic outline is not possible without putting the business on HR track.
Research Methods Review: The most common research method of the contemporary times is survey research. It’s a technique aiming to gather information from a sample of population using questionnaire or interview; a method of data collection based on communication with a representative sample of individuals. This method, however, has some limitations like sampling errors, non response errors and variance (CASRO Archives, www. casro. org). The method also supports interviewing by including structured and non structured patterns in it.
Scientific observation is the systematic process of recording the behavioral patterns of people objects and occurrences as they are witnessed. The researchers utilizing the observation method of data collection witnesses and records information as events occur or complies evidence from records of the past (Zikmund, G William, Business Research Methods, Thompson South Western Publication). Another important method of conducting research is ‘experimental research’. This method, however, is bound to have controlled conditions.
This type of research further depends on internal and external validity, and a good experimental design. It has even been stated, “The goal of an experimental design is the confidence that it gives the researcher that his experimental treatment is the cause of the effect he measures. ” (Banks, Seymour, Designing Research to Increase the Validity, Journals of Marketing). In order to conduct the research at its optimum, the choice of right method is as crucial as it is for the research as whole. And the choice depends upon the nature of research.
As all the methods have some limitations, so it’s not necessary to select any one of them, a combination of methods can also help to cover the maximum area of the research. Methodologies: In order to analyze the Hospitality industry of Pakistan on the strategic grounds of Human Resources Management, this paper will attempt to have a combination of research methods. The observation method will be applied while reviewing the news papers and journal reports. Survey and interview strategies will be followed in the areas of access, and the remaining part will be covered by distributing questionnaires.
As experimental research will not be a suitable method in the initial stages of the research work, it’ll be incorporated after analyzing the results of first two methods. In addition, web research will also be focused, in order to have fastest access to the information round the globe.
