Human Resource Management and Human Resource Planning within Human Resource Management are the most important activities of any successful business organization. Identifying the right talent and acquiring the same at the right time is the focus of the Recruitment process in Human Resource Management. With companies going global, recruitment becomes that much more complex because of the inherent differences in culture and the ways of doing things. Recruitment process involves careful execution in alignment with company’s strategic plans and must be responsive to both changes within and outside the organization (Sears, 2003).

This helps save the company the additional time and effort, required to train and develop newly acquired employees. Theoretical aspects of Recruitment Process Human Resource Planning is the first step before any Recruitment activity is undertaken in a business organization. Based on the planning activity, which is again based on the overall strategy of the enterprise, required Human Resource is identified and the same is acquired through internal or external resources. Vacant positions, if any, can be filled through recruitment or internal promotion depending upon the need and the budget.

Recruitment is a very critical activity in any company’s overall business strategy. A typical recruitment process involves advertising using TV, Radio etc. , screening the applications, scheduling the interviews, short-listing the candidates for a final round of interviews, issuing offer letters and then inducting them into various identified positions.

Advertising involves writing up the required qualifications, experience and job description. Targeted Recruitment (Williams, 2000) can help match the job needs with the available skills. Understanding the Recruitment process in detail will help me achieve my objective as a successful manager. One strategy many companies use is retention so that the costly and time consuming process of recruitment can be avoided. By keeping the employee morale high by using various strategies like job redesign, job enrichment, job rotation, suitable promotion etc. , employers do retain critical employees required for the business success.

Incentives and pay revision are some other activities in Human Resource Management that can help retain the employees. Career and Succession planning are other strategies used to retain the right people. By structuring the promotion strategy in a way that high fliers are recognized and retained, additional budgets for recruitment on a continuous basis can be avoided. Telecommuting, flextime, and special facilities for working mothers are few of the many ways employers use to show the genuine concern for their employees and thus gain their trust and loyalty.
