The present is very vigilant in its campaign against discrimination and abuse in every aspect of social structure including the business world. In this aspect, individual abuse and discrimination such as sexual harassment is strongly forbidden and the social perception towards this perverted act is very much critical. Sexual harassment is generally viewed by the legal structure mainly the U. S.
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as a form of sex discrimination that violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which includes all form of business entity and relationship of employer-employee (EEOC, 2007). Sexual Harassment manifest in many forms and the business management particularly the managers must be very much aware of these forms to avoid chances of litigation and act of negligence in their part of preventing it.
The EEOC clearly specified some manifestations of the sexual act such as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment when this conduct explicitly or implicitly affects an individual’s employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual’s work performance, or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment (2007). Actions and gestures that constitute malicious and/or sexual intentions can and characteristics such as those previously mentioned could all be considered grounds for sexual abuse resulting to legal litigation.
Sexual harassment is a matter of crucial concern for the society since this unwanted act constitute the concept of social discrimination which the society aim to eradicate in the present social system. Sexual harassment and other forms of discrimination must all be removed for the reality of a society of equality, social freedom, and free from any form of hostility.
