Human Service Group
Every student undergoes enrollment procedures. As such, students have first hand experience with registration obstacles and how to overcome these difficulties. Schools usually find registration assistants and pay for their services, hiring them as student assistants. This is done to allow students to be financially supported and at the same time learn skills that can be useful to their academic work (San Diego State University, n. d. ). Although this is a good way to attract students into offering help during enrollment, hiring students one by one is somewhat tedious and lacks ties and integration among other registration assistants.
By having a cohesive group centered on the purposes of assisting during enrollment, there is more productivity and social growth among students. Because of this, one good human service group that I can run is a group that focuses on registration assistance: by the students, for the students. The main purpose of the group is to provide registration assistance and service to enrolling students, and by doing so, take part in the effectiveness and progress of registration procedures.
The group can also provide its members an opportunity to develop leadership and interpersonal skills. Members can also acquire an awareness of students’ social responsibilities

Because the group is focused on registration, the group will only be active during the duration of enrollment. The number of members can vary, depending on the availability of students and on the level at which the group can serve. A group that attends to students at the university level must need more members compared to a group that attends to students at the college or department level. Members are made up of students, either male or female who preferably have a lot of enrollment experience such as juniors and seniors.
A team of officers that will lead the group will supervise members in their positions and duties. A team of officers is advantageous as there are many aspects of enrollment that need attention and cannot be handled by just one person alone. These officers will be in charge of the training of the members so that they can provide the best service possible. A typical group session would involve briefing and evaluation. After every day of enrollment, officers will evaluate the members based on their performance and service.
A meeting will take place wherein the officers will give positive and negative feedback to the members, and the members can say the problems or learning they have encountered. Finally, the officers will brief the members for enrollment on the succeeding days. As the University Registrar will benefit from the service that the Registration Assistance Group will provide, it is best if that department will fund the group and supply its members with all the necessary materials, information and equipment they need.
Further, it will be better if the group is given a room or area wherein the group can hold meetings and trainings. The success of the group can be measured by means of knowing how much their contribution to the registration has helped students overcome the challenges of enrollment. The University Registrar or any other subdivision that has control of the enrollment can evaluate the performance of the members of the group to see how successful they were in achieving their goals and fulfilling their purpose. The officers also have their own feedback of the members to submit to the Registrar.
Any kind of information regarding the students should be kept confidential and shared only within the Service Group. Moreover, these pieces of information on the enrolling students must only be used for purposes of identification and verification, or any other purpose that is related to the enrollment procedures. Any forms, copies of certificates or other records must be kept private and only be utilized for enrollment purposes as well.
