I did my internship at a company called Perspective Automobile. It is located in Chatres, France. The company deals with car racing among other associated activities. Its market is solely leisure based since most of its revenue comes from gate and ticket collections from the public who attend the advertised races. The company also get substantial revenue from television broadcast and sponsors among others. The company has been in the car racing industry for over 15 years and has over 20 competitors.

Its mission statement points out its commitment to be the world leader amongst racing teams while promising entertainment to its fans as well as working in synergy with all stakeholders to ensure an all purposive efficiency in its operations. The company have consistently been finishing among the top ten in all the races and staying economically healthy. I was attached to the Logistics and Fleet manager’s office where I was involved in scheduling transport requirements for all the staff. The organisation generates its revenues mostly from winning the competitive races.

in turn get their products or services advertised by the team in competitions. Other revenues come from the ticket sales and the racing grounds when used for other events. The most significant expense is the purchase and maintenance of the racing cars. The cars used for racing are custom made and are ordered from various assemblies around the world.

The spare parts to fix such cars are also expensive so are the import fees and taxes. The second biggest expense is the professional fee paid to drivers who participate in races and some of them are big names in the racing industry. However the main strategy that the company uses is to stick to two to three professional racing drivers and one car type. In managing any organization regardless of the size and scope, there are many challenges that face most managers. Managers are in charge of all the organization’s operations with a view of attaining the set objectives.

They are the team leaders. To be prolific and get the desired output(s), they ought to be effective communicators for them to effectively pass instructions and information to the rest of the staff as clearly as possible and in a formal but friendly tone. They should be able to formulate specific agendas and arrive at sober decisions at all times. They also need to be considerate of everyone’s opinion on key decisions. They should lead from the front as far as ethics and professional conduct are concerned (Bilton, 2007).

The management of Perspective Automobiles demonstrated versatile management and organization. The flow of company information, courtesy of experienced personnel in all departments, was smooth and so was the relationship between all the members of the staff. There was an open window for all concepts and views as this was encouraged by the managers. Management principles are usually classified as having omnipotent or symbolic view. Under the omnipotent view, the manager is usually viewed as an irreplaceable and a final figure in an organization.

That he or she calls the shots and opinions that are divergent from theirs are regarded as riotous. On the other hand, the symbolic view suggests that manager is just but a friend who seeks to understand the challenges and needs of both the staff and the whole organisation. The powers and authority accorded to them by their positions are just but representational of the entire spirit of the whole organization in working towards its core objectives. The management style at Perspective Automobiles was democratic.

This is simply because everyone’s opinion, position notwithstanding, was valued. Every staff member, at any single opportunity, had their say whenever necessary and without any fear of resentment from the senior staff. There is a strong working relationship from the top to the bottom with less bureaucracy. The managers are also free to delegate responsibilities and imply upon their juniors the strength of mind to give their best. Scientific management can be described as a logical attempt to swot up labour processes in order to attain effectiveness.

Under this method there is a conscious attempt to establish how best a task can be carried out and be assigned to the best qualified personnel. Furthermore there is a common spirit of harmony in the team as well as responsibility resting on the shoulders of the management. On the other hand, quantitative management seeks to amplify the value of administrative judgments by using arithmetical and statistical techniques. It is a common place for all the staff of Perspective Automobiles to be present and cheer on their team during all the races.

They all work as an unyielding team at all times. Winning all competitions is the key motivator for this firm. The trophies that have been won are proudly displayed at the chief executive officer’s reception hall. The mission and vision statements accompany all the promotional products of the firm and even in the official letter head. There is a custom made flag flying high outside the main offices block. Its previous successes are the highlights of every event hosted by the company. Perspective Automobile participates in many corporate social responsibility activities.

For instance, it contributes to the government kitty for forestation. On a continuing basis it, supports some selected public schools by buying them sports kits and sponsoring the annual secondary school ball game competition. The company is also an active member of the road safety oversight conglomerate that seeks to make the roads in France safe. Such like activities have immensely contributed to the overall success of the company as it has endeared itself to the community and has many well wishers as well as fans.

The key components for an effective corporate code of ethics in business operations can be the benchmarks with which business entities would greatly benefit from if implemented. On leading, the firm is keen on employee job satisfaction. This can be witnessed from the way the staff handles its employees.

From the attractive remuneration packages to the performance contracts which they sign, the employees are guaranteed of their job security. There is a conscious attempt to always update the skills and knowledge of the employees to meet the current market and industry demands. Finally through promotions and salary increments, the company has been able to maintain the most valuable and prolific manpower albeit the poaching by the competitors. The staff members are free to raise their opinions whenever and wherever they can.

When it comes to controlling the employees, Perspective Automobiles has a free hand policy. It is such that, every employee is given a chance to accomplish a task as he or she pleases. This way, the company has open options to seeking solutions to its problems because the means of handling issues are diverse and many.
