Introductory Analysis of Wal-Mart
The company was founded in the year 1962 by Sam Walton. Wal-Mart is traded at the New York Stock Exchange with a symbol of WMT. A very attractive and astonishing pattern of success and growth was followed at Wal-mart which has left behind all other department and retails stores of the US in early 1990’s (Wal-Mart. com, 2010). Since the beginning the company operates as distributor and retailer of consumer goods. The company has largely grown itself in many parts of the world and is successful all over.
This essay mainly talks about the compensation plan followed by Wal-Mart; therefore let us first see the Strengths and Weakness of Wal-Mart in regards of Compensation. Strengths in regards of compensation: The major strength of Wal-Mart is its employees, who start their day with gathering and activity known as Wal-Mart cheer. The company refers its employees as “Associates” and also motivates every manager to think themselves as the “Servant Leaders”.
Every morning the shift starts with the store-wide meeting wherein the daily sales figures, company news and goals etc are discussed. Not only this are the employees provided with proper training as to how to greet the customers and how to increase their sales. Also a daily target is set at the store for employees, anyone who cross the target is appreciates and rewarded. The environment of the company is just like a family so that the workers can feel comfortable to work.
