Union struggles have been an important topic for many years. Union members constantly seek more while businesses constantly seek to take more away. There have been many laws both anti and pro unions that have both had positive and negative effects. The National Industrial Recovery Act (NAIRA) and the Taft-Hartley Act were two famous anti-union laws that impacted union workers in a negative way, and the Laggardly and Wagner Acts were also famous union laws that were pro-union that had good results on the union workers.

The NAIRA was an anti-union law that was passed, and it had a negative impact on unions as a whole. The NAIRA as passed to make more Jobs because at the time there were many that were unemployed, and creating these Jobs would also help the economy. This upset the union workers. More jobs meant more competitors, and this made unions uneasy. It would no longer be easy to threaten to picket or strike because there were men or women that could take their Jobs as they were happily.

Another anti-union law that was passed was the Taft- Hartley Act. This law is very important to union issues. The main thing this law established was that

all workers did not need to participate in things like strikes, pickets, or any other labor acts. This was important because only those that wanted to strike would strike, in other words they did not have to all go down together. However, it also created a few other things.

It gave employers the right to legally end labor acts if they threatened the nation in a serious way which the union workers disliked, and that is why it was considered an anti-union law. The Taft-Hartley Act was an important amendment to the ANAL. The Norris Laggardly Act was a pro- union law that greatly helped the union and its members. This Act was the act that gave the legal right to make unions that was previously not allowed. Before this act, business leaders and the government both could break up unions or put a complete stop to them, but this act took away that power.

Forming unions gave the members the rights to collectively bargain for things such as wages, work hours, or health infinite which was previously very difficult. Without this Act, unions would not even be around, or around for very long. The Wagner Act was almost an extension of the Laggardly Act. This was the Act that gave workers the right to collectively bargain like stated above. This was important because it gave union members the reassurance and comfort to know that they could at least look out for themselves in the dog eat dog work world.

The Wagner also gave the government the right to establish what abort acts were unjust, that way there would be no confusion or grey-area to workers and leaders. These two acts were both laws that were pro-union and they both positively impacted unions as a whole. I am personally pro-union. I think it is important for people to be able to look out for themselves, and without the union there would be no middle class which is important to the economy.
