The skills acquired include attaining efficiency in the area of work, a manager is able to conduct the affairs of the company to give satisfaction to the customer by ensuring that goods of the right quality and quantity are delivered at the right time, the cost of production is also reduced and good control of a plants activities is maintained. A company with good leadership skills develop advantage in the competitive markets, mandatory regulations can easily be complied with and the bottom line is also easily boosted.

There is an impartial form of service referred to as ‘train to gain’ which assist leaders to be in a position to have a training package that is flexible in the supply chain. The program also ensures that training opportunities available are easily funded. The system accommodates those managers working to train as part time and even accommodate those who want to learn on full time so as to ensure that all leadership skills needed in the supply chain development are are attained.

According to Donna (2000) the leadership skills have by and large helped to answer the question which the employer asks on the supply chain demands where new technology keep coming up with the change taking place in the marketplace. It is therefore important for leaders to keep updated with what is taking place in the supply chain to be able to meet the demand changes in the market. Employees must always meet the exceptional standards to be in a position to bring high quality and effective values needed in the performance of their organizations.

As posited by Khosrow (2001) a good example of the supply chain leadership was given in the freight forwarding area and the sale of IT. The case scenario portrayed that a company can be confused with the changing global demands and improvement of technology as to which of the available complex choices to settle on, since there are now different and uncertain IT solutions availed in the market. For a company to decide on what technology would comfortably suit their supply chain in the IT area can be confusing.

Proficient leadership is therefore necessary in making of decisions which would process the capability to identify, manage and communicate and to implement the necessary objectives in order to get the best results from the complex IT platform operation enforced in an organization. The leadership needed in ensuring a successful operation in the supply chain should be one that follows up on the activities in a company and also committed, failure to which adjusting to the upcoming technology may be costly and difficult and could even lead to frustration in an organization.

An organization may be in a position to ensure that an effective supply chain management is attained by ensuring that, the leaders are well trained in leadership skills concerning the supply chain management. The technology applied should also be modern and effective to ensure that a company meets the latest fashion needs of the consumers.
