Bradford and Cohen offered a solution on how to break the vicious cycle and solve the problem of heroic leadership. They introduced a new paradigm termed as post-heroic leadership. This paradigm entails the deconstruction of old mind sets in order to make it happen. It espouses a new perspective on the leader-follower relationship. ...ers and leaders. Shared responsibility means the existence of leadership at every level. Followers are recognized as leaders in their own right. Followers or members are potential contributors in the each process in the system. This way, the latent talents of individuals are brought to the surface.

These talents and skills are harnessed and maximized; contributing to personal and organizational growth. On purpose and direction, leaders and members see what lies ahead. They know their goals necessary to achieve the tangible vision. Knowing the vision empowers leaders and members to take their respective tasks seriously. On influence, members have the capacity to influence each other and their leaders. Mutual influence must be present that everyone may be able to share their thoughts and feelings on a certain issue.

Overall, the new paradigm sets forth a model in which everybody is engaged in the work and finding solutions. It recognizes the ability of individuals and allows chances for representation and participation. As I see it, it is not easy to introduce this paradigm in organizations as it requires mental conditioning. Perceptions and personal biases must be shed in order for a new thinking to evolve. It might be difficult but it’s worth the effort.
