Management of an organization calls for application of various leadership skills that provide solutions to organizational problems. One of the recent managerial trends is learning organization that seeks to provide an environment whereby workers can achieve the results they desire. A learning organization is thus an entity that creates transfers and acquires skills necessary to modify its behavior for purpose of reflecting new insights and knowledge (King Joseph, 2005).
Learning organization creates expansive measures of thinking through collective aspiration. In another scope, learning organization facilitates learning process of workers which leads to its transformation. Through learning organization, individuals are inspired, desired results are achieved and collective aspiration is set free.
Learning organizations allow employees to actively participate in affairs of the organization without intimidation as they are free to express their views in regard to certain issues (Gilley Jerry, 2000). It is through learning organization whereby traditional way of management is abandoned for better potentialities that follow hierarchies. Five common disciplines are observed when introducing learning organization. These include personal mastery, team learning, mental models, and systems thinking, and building shared visions.
