The future of internet commerce and marketing capabilities by year 2020 The internet has already reduced the time and distance required to conduct business and education al activities. This memo outlines some of the enhancements I believe should and will happen in e-commerce on the internet by 2020. Enhanced security through visual, signature, fingerprint I believe that all homes will be equipped with internet services and peripherals that will enhance individual security and productivity. First will be built-in cameras that will visually identify the user at a computer station.
Also, signature pads or at least finger or thumb print pads will be standard equipment on every computer. This way merchants and credit card companies can identify individuals making transactions as if they were in the store. This will also help merchants to offer a virtual shopping experience with live product displays and demonstrations. Home health care Having experienced a family member receive a pacemaker, along with phone equipment that can transmit readings and calibrations, I believe that the internet can be used for at home medical services.
I believe that a technology similar to the fingerprint pad could be used for applications such as the diabetic finger print. Just as they put the drop into the portable meter and get a reading, that reading could be immediately transmitted to a medical facility and logged into a patients’ permanent medical records. This could also be used for certain lab tests like urine specimen tests, and to monitor and record blood pressure, heart rate, and breathing patterns. This could be used as the equivalent of a doctor making a house call to examine a patient.
Something like a vest could be equipped with EKG technology. A heart patient could put the vest on and send signals, eliminating the need to travel to a lab for simple procedures. At-home auto service Similar to the medical service idea, people could do basic auto service at home via computer transmission. At minimum, service issues could be diagnosed and transmitted to an auto service center without appointments and long waiting times. The computer cannot change fluids such as oil and transmission fluid, or change tires.
But items like engine tune ups and the electronic components can be checked and calibrated. This technology could even read the tire tread, tell you it is time for new tires, have them on order, and schedule and notify the owner of the appointment. The internet will become more interactive and will use more than just the PC or laptop. Peripherals will include touch screens and sensor devices that will read and transmit. By 2020, the internet will eliminate the long travel and wait for a basic medical check up or automobile inspection.
