Failure to profile audiences through collection and analysis of information and consequently adjust the content and style to match the needs of the audience is the main reason for sub-standard presentations. This article aims to impart knowledge to students and professionals on how to achieve successful presentations, (McQuail, 1997). An audience analysis attempts to establish the needs and characteristics of the target audience enabling the presenter identify the language, presentation tool, visual aids to use, layout of the venue and the associated costs.
The size of the audience determines the size of the room to be used, the acoustics required and the presentation space. Both the presenter and audience should be able to see and hear each other. The size of the audience also helps to determines the most affordable and yet effective mode of communication and dissemination of reading materials. The demographics of the participants, that is; age, gender and level of education cannot be ignored. In this case the age ranges from 17 to 55 years.

The language and culture of this audience is quite diverse. Different social-cultural groups interpret unlike interpretations for the same data. The audience analysis helps presenters avoid statements and examples that maybe disrespectful to any of the races. A consideration for the physically disabled must always be made with regard to ease of access to the venue, layout should allow free movement. Sign language experts, visual and hearing aids, use of learning aids like flip charts and whiteboards should be employed.
Again when considering the venue, a quiet venue free from distractions should be chosen. In conclusion, presenters must continuously improve, by instigating a feedback process whereby the views of the trainees can be collected at the end of the session and analyzed in order to set a higher platform for the next presentation.
