Managing Stress and Work-Life Balance

The relaxation exercise was able to relieve my stressful feeling. Doing the technique made it easier for me to forget about the worries and stressed brought about by a long and tiring day at school. I was able to work on the different body parts that I utilized the most during the day. The exercise is considered to be useful in my daily life as a student. One of the major sources of stress among students is environmental stress. It is really hard to adjust being away from home. It brings out unnecessary feeling especially if you are not yet familiar with the school surroundings.

Other stressors are academic pressure, financial difficulties, major life events and usage of alcohol or drugs (Ross, Nibling & Heckert). On my part one of the major sources of stress is academic stress. My parents expect a lot from me like having higher grades and receiving awards. It gives me so much stress because I need to exert extra effort in studying. I find it hard meeting the expectations of my parents because of maintaining high level of academic achievement. I also accumulate stress from friends who are bad influence.

ask me to join them as they cut classes and influence me to use vices. It is stressful for me to reject them in a nice way. I believe that joining them in drinking alcohol will add more stress to me. I also gain stress from cramming as I rush down and do things when preparing my projects and assignments whenever deadline is past approaching. After physical exercises, I also feel stressful because of too much pressure and body fatigue from my physical education class especially when the topic is all about sports.

The best thing about the relaxation exercise is that it gives me a good break from my major sources of stress. It is best done after school hours and during spare times at home or even in school. During reviews before examinations, the technique is also applicable because it refreshes both my mind and body.
