In the scenario, I play the role of Nik a former trainee and I have currently been offered a job opportunity in a certain fast growing company in Kava. The organization has not been in a position to establish itself well in order to adjust to the new environment and also gain more customers because it is new in the location. Kava is located in an island country in the south pacific has various opportunities. This town has half of its population consisting of mainly youths.
Economic conditions are quite good and consist of spices, bananas, coffee, natural resources, natural gas and petroleum, a lot of labor, fishing, sugar and cocoa. Moreover, there are also a number of disaster threats that exist at Kava. They include; earthquakes, petroleum spill, Hurricanes, volcano eruptions, floods, fires, avian flu and terrorism and all these pose risks to businesses around including the organization that I am assigned to work with. Another feature is that Kava has various organizations that mostly deal with helping the entire community at Kava.
These organizations include governmental service, community-based organizations and various businesses as well as faith based organizations. There are also a number of issues that appear in Kava that

The mentioned disasters are a major drawback in enabling the organization to establish a greater presence at Kava. Moreover, the government of Kava is also an obstacle to this newly formed organization. This is because of the persistent demands that it makes to the company so that the company could offer social needs to the surrounding communities who have been affected by the disasters. The government of Kava believes that the goods and services that mostly come from Kava significantly impacts the company hence the company’s potential to flourish and have surpluses.
My company has managed to demonstrate its ability to grow, develop and manage an efficient and effective organizational structure and this includes various aspects that exist in the company such as purchasing, finance, human resources, transportation, leadership, marketing, technology, physical resource, strategic planning among others. As a result of the demonstration of growth that the company has managed to establish, the government of Kava feels that the company has the responsibility of providing basic social needs to the people of Kava.
My main duty is to ensure that the company can effectively develop a strong presence in Kava and at the same time avoiding these obstacles that could hamper the process of development in the company. This requires an effective decision making process and this is what I intend to do in Kava. My major concern is to establish alternative means of the organizational governance that currently exists in the company and finally introduce new styles of management. This means that change should be implemented in the organization and this is mainly because of the existing environmental conditions that are not favourable to the institution.
However, introduction to change is bound to result to organizational as well as environmental obstacles. Organizational obstacles include resistance to change especially from the employees who work within one organization and the surrounding community. Environmental obstacles on the other hand include problems that relate to pollution, HIV/Aids as well as various environmental hazards that exist at Kava. Change will be a main obstacle because it is perceived by managers and employees quite differently.
Employees often resist change because they are uncertain of their job security or they could also be worried of their capability in handling any demands that often result from work change (Schminke, 1998). In my critical decision making as concerns this organization at Kava, I plan to implement change on my decision making process by involving all employees of the organization into the planning process as this will enhance their acceptability of change as they will be able to understand the reasons for change.
The environmental obstacles such as pollution which is mainly caused as a result of petroleum spillage shall be addressed by involving the government, community and the company including various stakeholders in decision making as well as implementation processes and the main objective is to generate a wider range of ideas that will help in effectively coming up with tangible solutions to the various environmental problems that exist at Kava. In addition, I will also require an effective planning procedure that will be useful in handling these obstacles.
First, I intend to find out the pros and cons as regards to any change that is bound to be implemented in the organization and how these changes impact on the employees, business, community and the stakeholders . Regular inspectation on various business departments will also be a part of the planning process as this will also be a part of the planning process as this will also be helpful in updating the current workflow from the organization as well as keeping pace with any advancement that may exist in technology (McNeil & Welbum, 2004).
I also plan to establish high standards of performance introduce an effective job design and also establish an enabling working environment in order to increase the firm’s productivity and as a result, it will allow the company to establish a greater presence in Kava. It is mainly through employee motivation that the organization can be able to increase its productivity and therefore this aspect will also be looked at. Knowledge of the company’s location is also critical whenever decision making process is involved.
Background information concerning the business surrounding is useful in looking for other means and alternatives for avoiding business obstacles (McNeil & Welbum, 2004). In conclusion, I shall employ a number of processes in my critical decision making process. They include definition of existing problems, development of potential alternatives, analysis of these problems, selecting the best alternatives, implementing these problems and lastly establishing a system which assists in control and evaluation.
