On this technological era, various technological developments have influenced almost all phases of life. With the technological innovation, the healthcare industry has also upgraded into a state-of-the-art. But with the technological innovations, various issues also attack the medical industry. One of the issues faced by health care industry, specifically radiologist, is the use of technology in ensuring the health of the patients. From the use of x-ray, hospitals now have introduced other technological innovation such as ultrasound, CT scan, and MRI, among others.
Through these equipments, many diseases can be detected before these can even grow larger and eventually causing tremendous aches to the person inflicted. Even a smallest mole in body’s hidden parts can be detected by these equipments. The public has also put their trust to the medical equipments. It has been proven as to its accuracy. Through it, patient does not have to undergo a more upsetting surgery. Eventually, may other technological innovations have been introduced in the world of medicine.
However, the use of these equipments can have drawbacks to the detriment of the patient. The most common consequence of using these equipments is the exposure to radiation. Hospitals and health care providers exist to save life and

Notably, the use of these equipments will create a gap between patients and health care providers. Hence, the relationship of health care providers and patients may be affected because of lesser interaction and dependence of the latter to medical innovations. Additionally, through technological equipments used in detecting and in viewing the internal parts of a patient, his personal autonomy is compromised. While there may be patients who would voluntarily be willing to submit their body for scanning and radiation exposure, there are others who are not.
Notably, in cases of error or mistake in the process, the professional responsibilities may be downgraded. In all aspect, mistakes, accidents, or failure is unavoidable. In healthcare sector, a mistake in the findings can also occur, especially when the cause of error cannot be determined. The most probable result would be pinpointing or passing of responsibilities of the consequence suffered by the patient. The above mentioned moral and ethical issues in the world of radiology have already been known and determined.
As an aspirant radiology scientist for MRI, I believe that these issues would eventually change my desired profession. Having known the issues, the ethical and moral concerns of the patients would highly be considered. In the medical aspect, MRI is the most advanced technological equipment used to detect and evaluate the internal parts of the body like bones. Through MRI, foreign objects residing in body parts, any fractures, or anything that is causing discomfort to the patients would be detected.
Eventually, through the findings, proper medication would be given to the patient. This way, the disease inflicted to the patient would effectively and efficiently be cured. As to issues on radiation, MRI is the answer. Unlike x-ray and CT scan, MRI is an equipment that does not involve exposure to radiation. Hence, through MRI, treatment is assured and radiation is no longer a risk. Like MRI, I believe that many more technological equipments would be developed with the purpose of saving lives by considering all moral and ethical issues facing the medical world.
