With the outline of goals and objectives of the company, the planning department is able to carry out a diverse set of tasks in order to initiate business operations to accomplish these goals and objectives. Managers are expected to consider all aspects of the business prior to formulating a plan in order to identify potential risks or setbacks before all tasks are carried out.
Managers should be able to assign teams different tasks, such as a strategic planning team (identifying competition, scoping the work situation including the strengths and weaknesses of the company, and necessities of the end users as well as the target market). Surveying is important in order to determine potential risks and major setbacks that the company will be facing in the future. The manager will also establish a research team wherein indisputable and competitive technologies for providing Internet Service to homes, and other targeted end users (businesses), home and business solutions and innovative services shall be explored.
(Barnett, 2007) Aside from forecasting the future situations for the company, managers should be able to formulate a set of diverse plans that are in line with the goals and objectives of the company. This is the function of the tactical planning team. From the survey and in depth research conducted by the strategic planning team, the tactical planning team will come up with business plans or proposals. From these plans, the management is expected to choose the most appropriate and efficient plans to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
This completes the decision-making role of the manager. Through the strategic and tactical planning processes, managers are also expected to allocate resources properly and oversee that operations are going well considering the time-frame available, the priorities of the company, the work environment, and potential risks and setbacks, and most especially the goals and objectives of the company. (Barnett, 2007) Section 3 After the planning phase, managers should be ready to carry out the function of organizing.
Managers should be able to organize the structure of the company in order to efficiently produce desirable work results for the accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives. Managers should allocate resources fairly and appropriately while at the same time remembering the goals and objectives of XYZ Internet Company. Since the company is service-oriented, managers should focus on the skills and the efficiency of the technical operations team and the technical support team. (Barnett, 2007)
