It has more than 4, 750 stores with an estimated 138 million shoppers who visit these stores weekly. The company has managed to conquer almost every corner of America increasing its customer base both in rural and urban America.
It is also estimated that 82% of the households in the country purchase an item from Wal Mart yearly. The company is also behind the importation of almost 10% of goods from China into the U. S. market. Considering this market size and large number of goods being traded everyday, its inevitable that Wal Mart has a high number of employees in its payroll. An estimated 1. 9 million workers were employed by the start of the year 2007. This number therefore calls for a strong and efficient human resource department so that the company benefits maximumly.

This is a human resource philosophy that basically deals with the management of people and in this case over workers. It is based on as principle that human resources are distinctively vital in the sustenance of any kind of business in this competitive corporate world. The employees in this case have to be taken for refresher courses to enable them easily internalize and conceptualize the company’s strategies and identify with them in the long run.
This will improve the performance of the organization because it will enable the workers be innovative inorder to provide services that are very unique to our competitors. The process of inculcating this culture may be slow but then in the long run the company will have a tradition that will make it move competitive. I will therefore incorporate the human resource to be of help in various activities in the company. These activities which include the recruitment of employees, the selection process, training and the rewarding of personnel need to be done in consultation.
As a director I will have to involve every stakeholder in the formulation and implementation of such strategies. Through brainstorming of these issues, the best decisions reached upon will be the foundation of a strong performance by this company. Strategy is always synonymous with time frames and deadlines. This means that the company should be able to meet its targets and even perform better than the other branches country wide.
I therefore propose to work with the human resource in order to focus on programs that are long-term. This would in the long run translate to long-term objectives. Strategic human resource also has to look at obstacles that would affect the company not only internally but also from the external corporate society. One also has to look at the obstacles that emanate from other departments of the company that would want to weigh down the achievements of the human resource department.
