Supply Chain Similarities And Contrast

It is often thought that a supply chain of the B2B and the B2C will be very similar to each other but this is not true at all. They differ in a wide variety of ways. Firstly, let us consider the number of channels that the product has to go through before it reaches its customer. In terms of a B2B supply chain management, the channels are less but more work has to be done in every link of the channel. In the B2C supply chain management, the channels are more because the product is being delivered to the final consumer, but less work is required in every link.

(Roussel, 2004) The next difference comes within the technology that can be used to perform the supply chain management of both types. In terms of the B2C, not much technology is needed as the role of physical distribution is also not much and so is the role of other factors like storage, manufacturing etc. and the business in this case also does not need to be linked to the customer at all times. But in terms of the B2B supply chain, it has to be well integrated for both the businesses to

perform well.

There should be no communication gap and the business of both parties depends on efficient integration and this can be done only with the help of advanced technology which will reduce the gaps and loopholes that exist between the two businesses and keep them connected at all times to meet the demands of each other at any time possible. (Hugoes, 2006) CONCLUSION In conclusion, it can be said that supply chain management is one of the crucial parts of this whole society.

This is because, if a proper supply chain ceases to exist, then the responsibilities of delivering the good will lie only on the manufacturer who makes it and therefore, he would not be able to focus on making the good a quality one or improving it as time passes. He would be already too preoccupied with handling the distribution and storage aspect of his good so that it reaches its consumers the way he has promised it.

Therefore, supply chain is a great way of reducing the workload of the manufacturer and a way of providing the good with the best treatment possible in every aspect, be it be storage, handling, distribution or delivery.
