The problem of the company
Our group, though we worked efficiently and effectively to resolve the problem of the company, still find it hard to uproot the problem and give the necessary solution about it. But through the Experimental type of decision making process, our group was able to present solutions to the problems where the company is suffering right now (Shah, 2005).
The Experimental type of decision making process involves the course of deriving sets of solutions to a certain problem but is not final and still subject to changes based from what ever the results of the said solutions after they had been implemented and shown satisfactory effects to the operation of the company. Our group identifies first the possible roots of the problem of the company and suggested, based from the experiences of the other individuals who had already used that solution and found out that it is really effective, possible solutions to the problem.
All of us had equal chances of saying their ideas and we are all free to accept all the suggestions. This doing helps them to think and encourages to participate to the decision making process. After the enumerating all the possible solutions to the problem, we discussed among ourselves the possible pro’s and con’s of every given solution and ranked all the given solutions based from the acceptability to the group members. All of the group members have the power to vote their chosen solution based form the discussion and the points that are raised by the proponent of the said solution.
The solution that has the most number of votes will be presented to the CEO of the company. The discussion enables the group member who suggested the solution to defend his/ her solution to the group members and it is now up to the discretion of the group members if they would going to vote the said solution or not. Through this, we were able to extract all the ideas of the employees to come up with the most appropriate solution to the problem of the company.
The solutions that are presented to the CEO can still be change or not at all based from it end results to the company. With this the solution can still further be improve in accordance to the needs of the company. Group decision making process differs from the individual decision making process in such a way that the former takes longer periods of time before coming up with a solution. For instance, one person in the groups suggested a certain solution to the body and another member of the group does not like the said solution.
Deliberation regarding the appropriateness of the solution to the company must be made first and then hearing out the points of the two members of the group to defend their arguments and stand. Lots of time are consumed in ‘meeting halfway’ all the ideas of the group members. This may cause delay to the implementation of the solution or the operation of the business. On the other hand, group decision making also present a good effects to the company.
The said kind of decision making process is surely of high quality compared to the solutions made only by an individual. There is this saying that “two heads are better than one” meaning the more person plans for a certain thing, it would be surely more acceptable and has a greater benefits compared to the idea that is produced by only less person. Whereas individual decision making process can come up with a solution in almost no time since there will be no other person/s to be consulted by the proponent regarding his/her idea.
No more debates and consultation to be made in order to have a finished material. Moreover, in the conduct of individual decision making, there are times that the plans or solution can be implemented right away that makes the operation of the company in a continuous process. Individual decision making can also beneficial to the company, especially in times wherein there is an urgent need for the management to come up with a certain solution to a certain problem in order to have a continuous operation in the company.
