The organizations that value the nature of image the public have of them always incorporate the aspect of public relations within the organization. It is true that the backbone of some of the organizations is primarily their customers and for the sake of keeping the customers glued to such organizations, creation of a good public image is necessary. Consider the hospitality industry, the media, the transport industry as well as the social work department.
All these are areas which rely heavily on the customers for sustenance and therefore must promote good relationships with them so that customers are appealed to them. The role of the public relations to the organization is the staging of a platform on which symmetrical communication is made possible (Baines P et al. 2004p304). Communication within the organization is important since it’s the only way that the employees will express when they feel some things like concepts, ideas, machinery, relations with the big fishes and generally the role of the operational controls and systems, are getting into the way of their performance.
Public relations cater for the management of the relationships that the employees have with each other and with the people in the leadership positions. This includes the conciliatory clause as well as the definition of the relationships with each other, with the leaders, and with the investors. Public relations are important for developing collaboration within the organizations since the department because it takes up the role of bringing the various departments or programs together by harmonizing the matters that are of common interest to all the different parts of the organization.
The results of the undertaking of the public relations functions within the organization include increased collaboration and innovation, the leaders adopt an inspirational stance as opposed to the adopting dictatorial form of leadership; while the organizations themselves adopt participatory cultures therefore providing a conducive environment for attainment of the goals of the organizations.
