Understanding Issues in Organizational Behavior
Non-monetary incentives play a large role in relieving stress. At work, the management typically thinks that their subordinates are only after monetary incentives to motivate them to perform better, but actually, if the management first tries to understand the subordinate’s needs, they will find out that there are some employees who are not only after “financial incentives like: 1) piecework systems; 2) production bonus systems; 3) commissions; 4) suggestion plans; 4) group incentive plans; 5) profit-sharing; 6) gain-sharing; 7) etc” (Motivation, n. d. ).
There are also several employees who are looking for challenges and so motivations should also include: “job rotation, job enlargement, job enrichment, as well as, contact with users of the product or service” (Motivation, n. d. ). In addition to that, others are motivated to perform better if they are aware of the fact that the: 1) “management has high expectations of employees”; 2) “rewards which are of value are given”; 3) participation of employees are upheld; 4) “employees are treated as individuals”; 5) “praising them or giving them any positive feedback”; 6) etc (Motivation, n.
d. ). The aforementioned will relieve the employees’ stress which will consequently guarantee them to be motivated, and will consequently cause them to “act in desired ways to meet the company or organizations’ mission/goal” (Motivation, n. d. ). Employees Motivation Impact on Organizational Performance Whenever employees are properly motivated, “they also act in desired ways to meet the company or organization’s mission/goal”, this is why it is very important that aside from monetary incentives, they also be provided with non-monetary ones like those aforementioned (Motivation, n.
d. ). Importance of a Culturally Diversified Workforce Having a diverse workforce has the following advantages: it helps overcome problems associated with recruitment; it helps “widen its skills base”; and last but not least, it “enhances its reputation with the clients it serve, as well as, other people it deals with, for instance, suppliers” (Department.. , n. d. ).
