The current setup surrounding our work environment revolves around grouping of individuals who share the same ideas or have equal interests. Since our workforce is a diverse one, usually the people who group together are the ones that have the same color and ethnicity. They communicate in their own unique way and sometimes come into conflict with other groups because of certain issues that fail to be communicated properly. In terms of communication, the workforce exhibits informal modes in trying to communicate with other colleagues.
They only use formal tones when addressing a supervisor or individuals in higher position. At the same time, the manner in which information is passed comprises of verbal while written communications are often imparted via electronic mail or memorandums for everyone to see. In terms of language and communication, there seems to be a problem with non-native English speakers in giving out their true intentions. Seeing this, most of the time they are subject to prejudice and scrutiny among colleagues.

This is because many workers undermine several of the goals and mission our organization tries to promote. Examples of these include (1) tardiness, (2) communication, and (3) professionalism. Applying this to the cognitive behavior theory, there are different ways and facets that the interactions of the workforce can be enhanced. One important aspect to be considered involves the realm of perception. It is important that the organization enforces its mission and values to actively gain acceptance and compliance among individuals.
“As experiences and events gain meaning and value, the process becomes increasingly top down as the mind in attempt at an orderly process influences perception though beliefs, goals and external process” (Cognitive Behavior Theory, 2003, p. 1). In terms of communication, it is important that managers pay attention on how informal communication is imparted. Since they want to practice their goals of creating transparency and openness among the workforce, it is vital to expand formal channels and synchronize communication patterns according to the mission and vision of the organization (Cognitive Theory, 2003).
This can be revitalized by creating integrating the belief system from being individually centered and work towards a group/organizational manner. As far as language and culture is concerned, it is important that management practice its organizational culture and actively integrate it to the workforce. This is necessary because it enables people to go beyond their beliefs and strive towards attaining a particular objective.

In the end, by applying cognitive behavior approach, management can maximize on the issues and strategies that are to be applied in a particular group or environment (Prentice Hall, 2005). This is because it seeks to dwell into different facets such as communication, culture, and goals that are integral towards growth and development.
